We build consumer and hobbyist applications and publish them under our own name, for phones, tablets and desktop computers.

What we make

Our applications are aimed at two overlapping audiences. The first is anyone who wants a straightforward tool that works the first time they open it. The second is the hobbyist: someone with a specific, long-standing interest, who already knows the subject well and is poorly served by software that assumes they do not.

Software for that second audience tends to have a particular shape. There is usually a large body of structured reference data behind it, the details matter to the people using it, and the existing options are often capable but hard to live with. That is the kind of problem we like.

• Consumer applications. Everyday tools that should be usable the first time you open them, without a manual and without an account you did not ask for.
• Hobbyist software. Applications for people with a specific interest who want more control, and more detail, than a general-purpose app is willing to give them.
• Small, finished releases. We would rather ship one thing that does its job properly than a suite that does several things badly, and we would rather maintain what we have shipped than abandon it for the next idea.

Radio scanning and public-safety monitoring

Our current development work is in the scanner hobby — listening to publicly broadcast radio traffic, including public-safety, aviation, marine, rail and amateur communications. It is a hobby with a long history, a detailed and constantly changing body of frequency and system data behind it, and a software base that has not kept pace with modern receivers or with the phones people now carry.

We are building tools that help listeners organise what they monitor, make sense of the data behind it, and get to what they want to hear with less effort. We deal only with communications that are transmitted openly and that are lawful to receive.

None of our software is an emergency service, and none of it is a substitute for one. It is for general interest and hobby use. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
